Reducing Flood Risk in Polog Region

Plan for the Upper Vardar River Basin in line with the concept and objectives of the EU Floods Directive, as well as the contemporary approaches of (Eco-)Disaster Risk Reduction (including the priorities for action of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction). The entire planning documentation needs to ensure level of details that will be sufficient for selection of an optimized flood risk mitigation strategy for the basin, including a risk-based prioritization of investments in structural and non-structural measures (action plan) for non-urban and urban areas, aiming to influence future financing decisions. The entire assignment is envisaged as an interactive and participatory planning effort that will also help raise awareness and knowledge, as well as mobilize stakeholders for the upcoming implementation stages of the programme.
