According to the Waste Management Plan of the Republic of North Macedonia 2021–2031, about 112,000 tons of packaging waste were generated in the country in 2023, which equals around 60 kg of packaging waste per capita. In municipalities with up to 11,000 inhabitants, about 660 tons of packaging waste are generated annually, while in municipalities with up to 30,000 inhabitants, around 1,800 tons per year.
